Media Kit
Former Student Athlete is a digital platform and community focused on the post-athlete journey. We provide insight, education, and storytelling for athletes navigating life after competition, including career transitions, financial literacy, health and wellness, identity, and purpose beyond sports.
This media kit is designed for journalists, producers, podcast hosts, conference organizers, and partners seeking background information, collaboration opportunities, and brand assets.
About Former Student Athlete
Former Student Athlete was created to address a gap that exists across sports at every level. While athletes receive extensive support during their playing years, far fewer resources exist once the game ends.
Our platform publishes long-form articles, educational guides, and original content that speaks directly to former student-athletes and those preparing for transition. The tone is practical, credible, and grounded in real experience rather than hype or nostalgia.
Founder
Former Student Athlete was founded by Pat Brown, a former college football team captain at the University of Kansas. After athletics, Pat built a career in financial education, planning, and advocacy, with a focus on helping athletes and professionals navigate complex transitions with clarity and confidence.
Pat brings lived athlete experience, professional expertise, and a long-term perspective to conversations around NIL, identity, money, career development, and life after sports.
Topics We Cover
Former Student Athlete regularly contributes insight and commentary on topics including life after sports, athlete identity and transition, financial literacy for athletes, NIL education and responsibility, career and leadership development, mental health and wellness, discipline and mindset beyond competition, and long-term planning for former athletes.
Media Opportunities
Former Student Athlete is available for media collaborations including podcast interviews, written interviews, expert commentary, panel discussions, keynote speaking, workshops, and educational programming. We also collaborate on thought leadership, research-based discussions, and athlete-focused storytelling.
